Ankleshwar Industrial Estate was set up by Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation in early 70s. This industrial estate is spread over an area of 1600 hectares in close proximity to National Highway No.8 and Delhi-Mumbai Railway Line. Being an ideal location for industrialization, as on date, more than 1200 industries, consisting of chemicals, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, bulk drugs, petroleum products, engineering, textiles, plastics, rubber and packaging etc. are located in this industrial estate.
Gujarat State is poised for significant industrial growth in the country. Ankleshwar Industrial Estate, one of the largest Industrial Estates of Asia Continent was set up in mid 70s by GIDC. More than 1200 industrial units are functioning in this estate. As majority of them are chemical, Ankleshwar is also popular as Major Chemical Zone of the State. Ankleshwar is te hub of the industrial activity in Bharuch District. It provides industrial and social infrastructure to other nearby estates like Panoli, Jhagadia and Valia. 35% of the total exports of the State is from this area.
